Allan Riedel was born on February 10, 1942, to Arther and Ada (Wiess) Riedel at Foam Lake Hospital. He was one of six children. Allan attended Eastward School until Grade 6 before remaining at home to work alongside his father on the family farm.
At the age of 16, Allan began working, pushing bush for Cliff Larson, a job that took him across Saskatchewan and Alberta. Around the age of 30, he acquired his grandparents’ home quarter and began working for various farmers in the area. In 1980, he moved a trailer onto his land, beginning the life he had worked hard to build.
On August 2, 1980, Allan married the love of his life, Jeannette Chaykoski. Together, they made their home in their trailer and began their life as a family. On June 21, 1981, they welcomed their son, Tavis, on Father’s Day. Allan and Tavis shared many special moments, including attending auction sales and going on drives together.
Despite challenges with his hearing, Allan never let anything slow him down. He always welcomed opportunities to attend gatherings and spend time with family and friends.
Allan’s family continued to grow over the years. In 2007, he welcomed Tracey and Eli into the family, followed by Kody in 2009 and Chance in 2011. He cherished the time he spent with his three grandsons.
In 2011, Allan was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Demonstrating his strength and resilience, he overcame the illness and continued farming with Tavis. He also worked for Zuchkan Farms for 25 years and assisted many other farmers throughout his life. At the age of 81, Allan retired, enjoying the simple pleasures of daily coffee outings, checking the mail, and doing puzzles.
Allan passed away peacefully at home in his recliner on April 4, 2026.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arther and Ada Riedel; his sisters, Barbara Campbell and Bethene Resener; and his in-laws, Wasyl and Stella Chaykoski.
Allan will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Jeannette; his son, Tavis (Tracey Stuart); his grandsons, Eli, Kody, and Chance; his brother, Stan Riedel; his sisters, Myrtle Baxter and Valerie Ouellette; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Serelo and Shirley Dukacz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
