In Loving Memory of
Anne Woroniuk
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Anne Woroniuk, wife of the late Peter Woroniuk, passed away peacefully at the Golden Acres Lodge on April 21, 2021 at the age of 99 years.
Anne was born on August 21, 1921 on a farm south of Elfros, to Walter and Rose (nee Stadnachuk) Bodnarchuk. Anne was the baby of the family. Anne and Peter married in 1949 and lived on a small farm homestead near Bankend. Anne was always happy and liked to joke with people, she worked hard in times of many hardships. She became a mother when times were tough, living in a very basic farmhouse with no electricity, no running water, a wood burning stove and an outhouse. The family of six lived in a small, two room farmhouse. Anne made sure they always had food and clean clothes. They moved to Wynyard in 1967 and Anne became a widow in June of 1969.
Anne enjoyed the years that she worked at Crawford’s Foods and, from there, made many long-term friendships. After that she enjoyed looking after her grandchildren Kristen and Shane for several years. She enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren when they visited, and they loved to eat the fresh vegetables from her big garden.
Anne loved to dance to old time music, make Ukrainian food and she always had beautiful flower gardens. She loved her house and yard in Wynyard and had a difficult time giving it up at the age of 88. She moved to the Westview Apartments and lived fairly independently until her 90th birthday when her mobility began to fail. She was a loved resident of Golden Acres Lodge since then.
Anne is survived by her daughters Marlene (Steve) Pacheco and Rosanne (Len) Ballance; son Jerry (Stephanie) Woroniuk; grandchildren Kristen of Florida, Shane of Saskatoon, SK, Christopher of St. Thomas, ONT, Jennifer of Toronto, ONT, Candice of Richmound, SK and Rory of Fishing Lake, SK; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild in Florida. She was predeceased by her five brothers, three sisters, son Harry of London, ONT and grandson Christopher of Wynyard, SK.
Our mother was born at the end of the Spanish Flu, lived through World War II and the Great Depression of the 30’s, but perhaps this past year has been her biggest struggle of living through the isolation and loneliness brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, looking at masked faces, having limited family visits and all activities at a distance.
Our family wishes to thank all of the wonderful staff at Golden Acres for the loving care that they gave our mother for almost 10 years.
