Barbara May Wallace was born in Naicam, SK on May 16, 1937 to Cecil and Elma Porterfield. She grew up on the family farm east of Lac Vert, SK. Barb attended Home School and completed high school in Lac Vert before moving to Saskatoon, SK to attend Business College. After graduating, she worked at the SaskPower office in Yorkton, SK. On October 15, 1958 Barb was married to Don Wallace in Naicam. They lived on the family farm east of Naicam for 60 years before moving to Melfort, SK in the fall of 2018.
Barb was always ready and willing to help out on the farm. Whether it was being the 'go-fer', delivering meals to the field, gardening, canning, baking, sewing - she always answered the call.
Barb shared her time and many talents as an active member and volunteer in the Violetdale Ladies Club, Pentecostal Church, Crossroads Bible Church and numerous other community groups and events. She was a gracious hostess and welcomed visitors no matter the time of day. Coffee was always on and it was accompanied by fresh baking. If you happened to be around at mealtime she would always "add an extra potato to the pot".
Barb and Don enjoyed many trips and were fortunate to travel throughout most of Canada and the U.S. Barb was an avid sports fan. She especially liked curling, both as a spectator and a participant and if the Blue Jay's were playing, she was cheering them on.
Barb was a devoted and loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. Her Christian faith and love for Jesus was exemplified by her kind and selfless nature.
Barb was predeceased by her son Lyle in 2014, parents Cecil and Elma Porterfield, in-laws Ted and Mary Wallace and sister, Donna, in infancy. Barb is survived by many loving friends and family members including her husband Don of 62 years, daughter Dolores Bayne, granddaughters Shelby and Phoebe Bayne, and brother and sister-in-law Lorne and Valerie Porterfield.
Barb will be dearly missed and always loved. We will celebrate her life and cherish her memory until we meet again.
