It is with sadness that, we the family of Bertha Zerff, announce her passing on Wednesday August 6th, 2014 in Hanna Health Centre at the age of 94 years. Bertha was born July 28th, 1920, the second youngest of 7 children to George and Rose (Glass) Koch of Kelvington, SK.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Josephs R.C. Church, Kelvington, SK on Saturday August 16th, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow in the Kelvington Cemetery.

She married Leo Zerff on September 27th, 1955 in Medicine Hat, AB.

Bertha was predeceased by her husband Leo in 1994; her parents and all of her siblings Frank, John, Otto, Caroline Donald, Edith Vickery and Ernest Koch. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Wayne Zerff (Gwen), Leon Zerff (Cindy), her special niece Vivian Rosin (Wes); her sister-in-law Marie Koch (Otto) and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn 5 grandchildren and their spouses Jennifer (Calvin), Kimberly (Kenton), Ryan (Jenna Wade), Colin, Rocky (Tracy) and 2 great-granddaughters Rylee and Emma.

She enjoyed gardening in younger years, cooking, leading the manor residents in exercises, her prayer group and a game of cards, especially canasta and crib. For approximately 11 years, she was president of the senior's Manor Association where she lived in Hanna and enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to its success and many events enjoyed by the residents.

Bertha was a 'Bomb Girl' during World War II in Ajax Ontario, where she worked in a munition factory. She wrote a book on the life history of herself and the many memorable events she shared with her family. This book is cherished by her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bertha may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
