Beverley Diane Hendren of Kelvington, SK passed away on February 5, 2020 in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 81. Bev was born on November 11, 1938 in Penticton, B.C., the only child of George and Emily Kirkpatrick. When she was born, they lived at the Nickel Plate Mine on the mountain above Hedley, B.C. and moved to Penticton in 1945 then to Keromeos in 1947. She took all her schooling in Keromeos.
As a teenager Bev worked packing apple boxes. She then worked for the department of highways in Penticton which is where she met James Hendren. They were married on January 10, 1958 in Keromeos, B.C. Their oldest, Miller, was born while they were living in B.C. They moved to Kelvington, SK in 1960 and had three girls: Shelly, Holly and Becky. Bev worked at the doctor’s office in Kelvington and at Rural Supply and was James’ partner in farming.
Bev enjoyed sewing, crocheting, music (specifically piano and accordion), bowling and snowmobile racing in Saskatchewan and Montana. She helped with registration at the Kelvington Derby for many years. She was an avid traveller, enjoying a three month trip to Europe with her grandmother when she graduated, vacations in Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba, trips to Minot for Hostfest, bus tours to Branson and Nashville, trips to Finland and Sweden with James and a cruise to the Caribbean for their 40th Anniversary.
Bev is survived by her husband James of Kelvington, SK; daughters Shelly (Danny) Schultz of Porcupine Plain, Holly (Roger) Lafont of Okotoks, AB and Becky (Kevin) Fredsberg of Warman, SK; son Miller Hendren of Kelvington, SK; granddaughters Kristin (Chris) Quinney, Miranda (Kyle) Grona, Rachel Lafont, Dallas Lafont and Victoria (Victor) Niezgoda; grandsons Derek (Charlianne) Schultz, Jeremy Schultz, Tyson Fredsberg, Brett (Tia) Fredsberg and Kirk (Kayla Gavel) Hendren and great grandchildren Ellis, Hazel, Stella, Huxley, Sadie and Jane. She was predeceased by her parents George and Emily, mother-in-law Esther Hendren, father-in-law Pat Hendren and daughter-in-law Dianne Hendren.
