Cecelia Nadia King

June 5, 1938 — October 20, 2025

Dundurn

Cecelia King, age 87, passed away suddenly with Doreen and Mary by her side. Cecelia was born on June 5th, 1938 to Andrew and Maria (Dubyk) Michalko. She had 2 sisters Susie and Bertha. Cecelia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose kindness, strength, and warmth touched everyone who knew her. Born and raised with deep roots for country living, Cecelia spent most of her life on the farm, a place that reflected her hardworking spirit and her love for nature and simple living.

Cecelia married Walter Dubiel on August 4th, 1962 in St. Louis, SK. Cecelia’s greatest pride was her family. She was the loving mother of Mary, Joan, Deborah, Doreen, and Sharon and a daughter, Melanie, whom she gave up for adoption prior to meeting and marrying Walter. After Walter’s death, she married Joe King. She found joy in the quiet beauty of the land, caring for the animals, and tending to the garden that nourished her family, but took special pride in her green thumb for her flower garden.

Her greatest joy was sewing. She sewed many outfits for the girls when they were young, and she also sewed most of her own clothes up until last year. She sewed Mary, Joan, and Doreen’s wedding dresses and was a seamstress for others. She loved to make fortrel rugs with her companion Greg Osika. With great pride she sewed quilts and crocheted afghans for every single grandchild for their graduation. She recently finished crocheting several dish cloths for every family before her passing. Cecelia enjoyed dancing, painting, visiting and playing cards with friends and neighbours.

Her home was filled with laughter, delicious home-cooked meals, and the comforting scent of something baking in the oven; often bread when the girls would come home from school. She cherished 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Those who knew Cecelia will remember her gentle smile, her laugh and sense of humor, her generosity, and her unwavering faith.

Cecelia was predeceased by her husbands Walter and Joe, her parents, sisters, daughter Melanie, and nephews George Chernawski Jr, and Dale Goy, great nephew Chris Goy and great niece Sandra Chernawski.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mary Dubiel and her family Jenna (Cam), Luka Brewer, Justin (Kendra) Sawyer, Hunter Skolney, Jillian (Ben) Black; Joan (Michael) Maksymytz and her family Nadine (Mark) Aage, Rosh, Thane Stalwick, Erin (Adrian), Carson, Blake Rogers, Seth Maksymytz, Ramsey (Jennifer), Gage, Ashton, Raynna, Eli Maksymytz, Jessie (Greg) Eberly, Annabelle, Waylon Lundie, Cole (Catherine) Danica, Cade, Kameo, Maelie, Dierks, Ariatt Maksymytz; Deb (Guy) Cooper and her family Jordan (Kristen), Thomas Cooper, Robin Cooper; Doreen (Allan) Zimmer and her family Colton, Sheridan, Chase Zimmer; Sharon (Kevin) Pierce, her long time friend Greg Osika, many nieces, nephews and friends.
