In Loving Memory of Denise Gayl Poulton

May 19th 1955 - February 9th 2026

Rest in Peace

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Denise Gayl Poulton (née: Wendel) of Regina, age 70 years, announced her unexpected passing on Monday, February 9th, 2026. Denise was born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan on May 19th, 1955, to Vionne and Reiny Wendel. She lived with her parents and sister, Charlene (Rick) on their family farm in Central Butte. Considered a quiet soul, Denise grew up often content spending her time reading a good book or baking in the kitchen. She did well in school and held herself to high standards, always striving for the best and going the extra mile.

Denise met Gordon while she was working as a teller at the Moose Jaw Credit Union. They were married in Moose Jaw on July 30, 1977. Shortly after, they moved to Regina to start their married life together, raising their beautiful children Mike and Krista, and eventually building their new house on Leibel Crescent. Denise continued to work at the Conexus Credit Union in Regina while helping to build a life with her family rooted in love and unity. She took great pride in tending to her extensive flower garden and nurturing it with the same love and care she gave to those around her.

Denise was up for any challenge that came her way. She held the family together, helping to navigate through Mike’s ski accident, as well as Krista’s eye accident. Denise was always there to support Gordon’s ventures with the Regina Alpine Ski Race Team and the Regina Adaptive Ski Program. Over the years she grew fond of the farm in Quill Lake and helped Gordon with the many responsibilities that come along with farm life. She valued many things on the farm as an opportunity to learn something new and acquired great self-fulfillment in day-to-day activities including driving tractors, combines, and lawn mowers, hauling grain, helping to fix equipment, picking up equipment parts, cooking, and making sure the farmyard and buildings maintained their beauty and charm. She would often stay at the farm late on a Sunday helping out, spending the evening driving back into Regina so she could make it to work at the Credit Union early Monday morning. Her work ethic and dedication were admirable and respected.

Denise took great pleasure in her garden and was always so proud to show her family all her beautiful flowers. She loved supporting her family with to-do lists, assisting with accounting, and helping to manage everyone’s lives across provinces. She adored her beloved kitty Isis, who lived until he was 19 years old, passing away April 2025.

Denise was predeceased by her father, Reiny Wendel in December of 2006 and her mother Vionne Wendel in March of 2024. After the passing of Reiny, Denise and her sister Charlene supported Vionne in maintaining the Central Butte Farm and Denise cared deeply for her mother, calling daily and visiting her in Moose Jaw after Vionne moved there in 2010.

Denise Gayl Poulton was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family, husband Gordon, son Mike (Krista and grandchildren Sienna and Noah), daughter Krista (Cleary and grandchild on the way). She loved her family and was always there to support her loved ones. Her memories will be cherished always.

Celebration of life will be held at the Regina Funeral Home on February 22nd, 2026 from 1-4pm. The service will also be livestreamed through the Regina Funeral Home.

In memory of Denise’s life, donations may be made towards the Regina Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
