Donald Dodsworth

December 1, 1942 — September 24, 2017

A celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Dodsworth.  Don was predeceased by his parents Bill and Gwen, his sister Merle, and his brother George (Cork).  He is survived by his wife of 51 years Pat, his daughter Tracy (Sheldon), his son Kelly, grandsons Terran and Tanner, his sisters Arlene and Linda and many nephews and nieces but most of all Debbie who held a special place in his heart.

Don received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan in 1965.  He worked in a few drug stores before purchasing his own in Lestock in 1966 which he operated until 2001.

He was an active community member serving as volunteer fireman and fire chief, and town councillor.  He was also an active Lions club member with the Lestock and District Lions Club holding many positions including Deputy District Governor.

The family cabin at Last Mountain Regional Park was his retreat from work.  The lake continued to be a special place for him with many fond memories of campfires, fishing at 6am, and towing kids on water skis every night after he got there from work each day in the summer.  Don loved hunting, fishing, curling, playing cards and reading a good book.

Don and Pat moved to Blind Bay, BC in 2001 and operated a Bed & Breakfast for 5 years before finally retiring and moving to Chase, BC.  They returned to Saskatchewan in 2010 and made Wadena their final home.

We would like to thank the staff at Pleasantview Care home in Wadena and the staff of the Wadena Hospital, as well as Dr. Hussein (Alabbas) and Dr. Rahoum.

At Don’s request, a service will not be held.  Final arrangements through Tompkins Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pleasantview Care Home in Wadena.
