Donald Head

Don passed away suddently at home on March 14, 2017, at the age of 73.
He was born on February 23, 1944, in the Rose Valley Hospital to Fred and Helen (Heber) Head. Don grew up on the farm west of Nora and attended Newdale and Newgate Park Schools.
His first job at age 18 was on the Gardiner Dam at Outlook. He worked in Prince George, B.C., in a lumber camp and later painted elevators.
Don married Sharon Richards on July 19, 1967, in the Archerwill United Church. To this union three daughters were born: Sharla Dawn in 1969, Cheryl Lynn in 1971 and Lisa Ann in 1972.
During the earlier years, he also worked on a farm at Greenwater and in the early winter of 1972 he went to work for Midwest Diamond Drilling, a job he held until his injury in 1989. He also worked for the Co-op for 14 years, selling machinery and doing repairs. Some of his other jobs were welding, maintenance for the housing authority, road construction with Harvey Butler and then as a guide for Big Foot Outfitters.
Don served three terms on Village Council, did a short stint on the Community College Board and was Community Club President when the new rink was being constructed.
He loved the outdoors and spent hours in his big garden. His greatest loves were hunting, fishing, and in his young days, trapping. He also liked to sew and made leather mitts from a pattern he designed himself.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Helen Head; sister Sandra Peterson and baby Tammy Jane Peterson; his in-laws, Les and Pearl Richards; brother-in-law Tony Majocha; and great-grandson Grayson Ference.
He leaves to mourn Sharon, his wife of almost 50 years; daughters, Sharla Bzowy, Cheryl Chetty and Lisa Huber; grandchildren, Brittany (Matt) Ference, Shawn and Justin Bzowy, Sarissa Chetty, Kayla and Jessica Huber and Katherine Willms; sisters, Frances Majocha (Mervin Prosko), Carol (Roland) Barrett and brother-in-law Les Peterson; sisters-in-law, Sheila (Leo) Graham, Corinne (Dennis) Koroluk and brother-in-law Jim (Sylvia) Richards and all their families.
