Eddy Wingert

Eddy was born in Saskatoon on June 7, 1953. Walter and Fransiska adopted him in 1956 and raised him on the farm northeast of Leroy, SK.

Eddy married Shirley McIntosh of Leroy. They had two sons, Jason of Wynyard (grandson Jesse) and Nelson of Saskatoon. Through this time Eddy worked at a wine distillery in British Columbia. They later moved back to Leroy where Eddy held various positions: manager of the Leroy Co-op Grocery, farm machine and car salesman and helped his father with the family farm. Eddy and Shirley divorced in 1985.

Eddy then moved to Wynyard where he purchased Wynyard Tire. In 1989 he met Faye Salikin. They married in July of 1996 and their daughter Chyanne was born in October of 1997. Eddy sold Wynyard Tire and built Wingert Sales & Service on Highway 16. This building was later transformed into Wynyard Bowling. After several years Eddy went back to his true passion of operating a tire shop. In 2009 Eddy sold out and the family moved to their cottage at Barrier Lake. He semi-retired and worked part time for Terry Price and then the Archerwill Co-op Gas Bar.

Eddy always enjoyed coffee row wherever he lived. He was always there to give a hand, taking several people under his wing to teach them what they needed to know or just to be their friend. Eddy and Faye enjoyed working together, they did several house renovations of their own as well as Mother June’s. Eddy enjoyed wheeling and dealing, as well as tinkering on vehicles and ATV’s. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether bowling, water-skiing, fishing, sledding, quadding or just visiting around the camp fire. His one liners (jokes) and quick come backs will be sadly missed.

A family interment will take place in Leroy in June where Ed will be laid to rest with Walter and Fransiska Wingert.

In keeping with Ed's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.
