Edward Michael Zubaty was born on November 13, 1945 in Theodore, SK to parents Mike and Lily Zubaty.  Edward grew up on the family farm in Insinger, SK and later had his own grain farm as well as raising sheep.  Edward worked in various locations in construction, field help and other jobs, to name a few.  When he retired from farming, he made his home in Kelvington, SK to be near and to help his parents.  He loved nature and loved to spend time outdoors feeding the birds, watching his cats and gardening.  He had a passion for farm machinery and horses, especially the Clydesdales which were his favourite and he would often talk fondly about the horses he owned over the years.   He enjoyed shopping, attending auctions and yard sales and was a collector of John Deere miniatures, which he admired and was very proud of.  Every year he planted a huge garden and gladly shared his harvest with others.  He loved to cook and was always on the lookout for new recipes to try.  His favourite T.V. programs were Alaska Wilderness, Ice Road Truckers, nature programs and most of all, The Gaither Gospel Show.  You knew never to phone Edward during the Gaither program; his favourite, and he knew the names of all the performers.

For anyone who knew Edward, he was a gentle, kind and generous soul. Although he suffered greatly with his own health issues for several years, he always put others' needs ahead of his own and he was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter how badly he was feeling.

Edward is survived by his brother, Paul. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Lily, stepfather Wilfred Matthews, his brother Carl and two infant brothers, Bill and Jim, and his good friend and neighbor Warren Dearborn.  Family meant a great deal to Edward and he tried his best to keep in touch with cousins and others and would be sure to send out birthday, Christmas and Easter cards.  He appreciated gathering photos of family members and would spend countless hours organizing them into his precious photo albums.  Every year he would visit the family cemeteries in various Saskatchewan locations to display flowers at each gravesite since that was very important to him.

Edward's suffering, pain and sorrow is now over. He will never be forgotten by those who knew him. We will always remember his "hallo" greeting when he met up with friends and family. He will be missed by friends and family for a very, very long time and especially by his special friend and companion of over 40 years, Doreen Garinger as well as his good friend and neighbour, Gordon Arthurs, who helped Edward so much with his medical appointments.

There will never be another like Edward... he was truly "one of a kind". Rest in peace, Edward, until we meet again.
