Edwin Bilokraly

May 24, 1939 — November 23, 2023

Warman, SK

It is with great sadness, our family announces the passing of Edwin (Ed) Bilokraly. Ed passed away on Nov 23, 2023 at the age of 84 in Warman, SK.

Ed was born May 24, 1939 to Micheal and Mary (Lungul) Bilokraly at their farm in Theodore, Sask. His family moved to Invermay when he was one year old to live on the family farm northeast of Invermay. Ed attended Mason School and later Invermay High School where he completed his Grade 10 education. He left home at a young age to join the work force, mainly with elevator construction and repair crews, starting out with Gertz Construction. He had the opportunity of working on one of the first concrete grain elevators, and many more, as concrete was becoming the primary building material for future elevators.

Ed bought grain for a short term, worked at the Colonsay potash mine and later returned to work on elevator construction and repair for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. His work took him to various places in Manitoba and across Saskatchewan.

On November 16, 1963, Ed married Myrtle Carlson at the United Church in Invermay. Over the years, they had 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. They lived in many different places due to Ed’s work, and eventually moved back to Invermay from Colonsay once their children were school age. Ed continued to work on elevator repair for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool until he retired on Dec 1, 1994, after 20 years.

After his retirement, Ed was employed by Invermay Housing Authority as a maintenance man for 9 years. Ed’s spare time was spent cross country skiing, travelling to hockey games, watching curling, woodworking, planting flowers and gardening.

Due to Ed’s declining health and to be closer to family, Ed and Myrtle moved to Warman, Sask in May 2018.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Micheal and Mary;mother-in-law and father- in-law Jean and Clarence Carlson; brothers Orest Bilokraly and Stanley Bilokraly; sisters-in-law Jean Bilokraly, Carrie Findlay, and Celia Carlson; brothers-in-law Albert Carlson and Don Findlay.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Myrtle; sons Darius (Denise) Bilokraly, Kevin Bilokraly, Terry Bilokraly (Candace) and her children Daniel, Justin, Jessica, daughter Tanya (Steve) Budd; grandchildren Boden (Mackenzie) Bilokraly, Hailee Bilokraly, Loran Bilokraly, Sarah Bilokraly, Matthew Bilokraly, Brayden Bilokraly, Drew Budd and Nate Budd; great grandchildren Jacob, Mallory, and Scarlett; brother Allan
