It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Viola Isley on September 14, 2022, in Regina, SK at the age of 100 yrs.
Elsie was born on June 2nd, 1922, to Carl and Signe Benson in Lintlaw, SK. She was the first born of two children. She attended St. Eutrope Rural School and lived on the family homestead. After school, Elsie moved away to Winnipeg where she took a job as a housekeeper. She then moved to Delisle and then to Kerrobert. It was here that she met her life partner, Edward Isley.
Elsie and Edward wed on November 18, 1947, in Saskatoon, SK. After they married, the couple moved to the Smokey Burn Co-op farm and from there they took over the Benson homestead, where they farmed until 1996, when they moved into Lintlaw. Elsie and Ed had three children, Pat, Donna and Reid. Ed passed away in 1996. Elsie continued to live in Lintlaw until 2016, then moved to Regina into the Marian Chateau Retirement to be closer to family. Elsie loved living on the farm and tending to her gardens. She was a member of the Lintlaw Golden Glory Club. In her later years, Elsie enjoyed oil painting, knitting, and Wii bowling.
Elsie is survived by her daughters Pat Oie of Wadena and Donna Gerwing of Calgary, AB, and her son Reid Isley (Gwen) of Regina, SK. Also left to remember Elsie are her grandchildren Melanie Gabel (Royce), Brad Oie (Raylene), Leesa Isley (Johnny), Dryden Isley (Jaya), Derek Gerwing (Jaiden), Great-grandchildren, Ty Gable, Kael Gable, Kristian and Krystal Oie, Olivia Fillier, brother Ken Benson (Linda), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Ed Isley, and her parents Carl and Signe Benson, son-in-law Ben Oie.
