Tompkins Funeral Home
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Erwin Wilchynski. Erwin passed away peacefully on September 14, 2014, at Royal University Hospital with his family by his side. Erwin succumbed after a lengthy battle with blood cancer. Erwin was a devoted son to his mother and a very supportive brother.
Erwin was born on June 25, 1953, to Martin and Rose Wilchynski. He grew up on the family farm and attended Ponass Lake School and from there high school in Rose Valley.
He worked in the oil fields until he was called home to take over the farm after his dad passed away. There he stayed until he retired from farming and then went to work for the R.M. of Ponass Lake.
Erwin had a great sense of humour and fun, and he loved to tease. If you ever did something humorous but silly, he never let you forget it! He was very informative and took great pride in knowing the history of his family and community. He loved to play cards. And he always said, "Boy, you get . . . (So-and-so). . . on the phone and they never quit talking!" but we all know how much Erwin loved to talk as well!!
Erwin was predeceased by his dad Martin Wilchynski (Jan. 19, 1979) and nephew Robin Wilchynski (Oct. 1, 1999).
He is survived by his mother Rose; sisters, Evelyn (Mike) Korchynski, Kelly Ries, Kevin (LaVonne) Ries, Tyler, Ryan, Lexie; Jean Cobb (Dale); Shirley (Dale) Bahm, Kim (Collin) Denninson, Conor, Leif, Annika; Mark (Candace) Bahm, Braydon, Keara, Tyler; Robin Bahm (Stephanie Miller); Stacy Bahm (Jayden Aitken) Little Eddie; brother Terry (Brenda) Jaylene.
