Gayhart was born on June 4, 1919, in Leverkusen, Germany, and left us on March 1, 2015, in Wadena, Saskatchewan. He immigrated to Canada in 1926 with his parents, Wilhelm and Rosalina, and homesteaded in the Margo district. After a brief time in the Air Force, based in Fort McLeod, Gayhart took over the family farm. Shortly after taking over the farm, he married the love of his life, Hildegarde Gellert. While farming, he also honed his skills as an electrician, mechanic, plumber and carpenter. Gayhart and Hilda were blessed with two sons: Murray and Gordon. He was very community minded. During his lifetime he served on several boards/executives, including the Board of Trade, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Credit Union, Moe-Concordia Lutheran Church, Margo Curling Club and Margo Silver Threads. Gayhart resided in Margo until the fall of 2012 when he moved to Wadena, first to Weneeda Park Lodge and then to Pleasant View Care Home. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda; parents, Wilhelm and Rosalina; in-laws, Alfred and Pauline Gellert; daughter-in-law Marjorie Bottcher; and by brothers-in-law, Cecil Bader and Leonard Gellert. Gayhart is survived by his sons, Murray (Terri) and Gordon (Sheila); grandchildren, Brendalyn (Darcy) Wallen, Kyle (Angela) Bottcher and Derek Bottcher; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kaylyn Wallen, Eve Bottcher, Paige and Taryn Bottcher; sisters-in-law, Harty Bader and Maxine Gellert; and by many nieces and nephews. Music was always a part of Gayhart's life. He loved to play guitar, sing and yodel; he's probably entertaining in heaven right now!
