Glen Elis Gradin passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Kelvington, Saskatchewan.
Born on September 21, 1938, to Sadie and Elis Gradin, Glen was the sixth of nine children. He grew up in the Hendon area and attended Moosehorn School. At the age of 17, Glen ventured to Elliot Lake, Ontario, where he worked in the mines for four years.
In 1961, Glen married the love of his life, Dianne Leitch. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family, raising four children. Glen dedicated 15 years to the Co-op before moving to Kelvington in 1979, where he and Dianne operated a grain and pig farm until their retirement in 2002. Glen worked at the Hendon Co-op for a couple of years while farming and supported his local Co-op as a board member.
Glen was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in music, dancing, carpentry, welding, restoring antique tractors and vehicles, hunting, fishing, camping, auctioneering, curling, and flying his Piper Colt airplane. He also loved to travel, and cherished time spent with family and friends.
His creativity and craftsmanship live on in the many handmade treasures he lovingly created for his children and grandchildren — hope chests, clothes hampers, rocking chairs and other furniture, playhouses, swings, picnic tables, outdoor Christmas displays and more — each piece a testament of the love he shared with his family.
Glen’s life was also deeply shaped by his faith. He was a long-time member of the Scandia and Zion Lutheran Churches, where he found strength, community, and purpose. His quiet faith guided his actions and relationships, and his legacy of kindness and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
Glen leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Dianne of close to 64 years; children Elaine (Kelly) Scott, June (David) Schultz, Elwood (Lina) Gradin, and Sharon (Chuck) Deschamps; grandchildren Deann, Larissa (Mike), Matt (Katie), Adam, Kellee (Lexi), Sammi (Brett), Garrett, and Morgan; and great-grandson Kason. He is also survived by siblings Neil (Dianne) Gradin and Connie (Don) McKay, and in-laws Allan (Diane) Leitch, Bev (Ken) Lee, Sandra Leitch, Maureen Kresak, Connie Anderson as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elis and Sadie; siblings Iva (Walter) Walster, Elna (Ed) Harmsworth, Eldon (Marion) Gradin, Eunice (Gordon) Hultin, Elsie (Norman) Harvey, Lynn Gradin; and brother-in-law Gerald Leitch.
