Gloria Jean Emerson (Sedgwick) 

It is with deep love and sadness that we share the passing of Gloria Jean Emerson, who left this world peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 77, with family by her side at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.

Born on September 9, 1947, in Elrose, Saskatchewan, Gloria was the second of four children born to Clemen and Jean Sedgwick (Sinclair). She grew up with a strong sense of family and community, values that would stay with her for life. Gloria is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Orville (Camille) Sedgwick and Donald (Vicki) Sedgwick and their families. She was predeceased by her sister Judy (Ken) Coulter, and her infant daughter, who passed away shortly after birth.

Gloria’s proudest role in life was being a mother and grandmother. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through her three children: Darren (Sheri) Emerson of Medicine Hat, AB, and their son Keyshawn; Darla (Ron) Laybourne of Leroy, SK, and their sons Robert (Kayla) Laybourne and Aiden (Kendra) Laybourne, and great-granddaughter Everlee; and Devin (Bansri) Emerson of Brandon, MB.

Her work life was as diverse and full as her heart. Whether serving customers at Dog ‘n’ Suds in Rosetown, working at the Quill Lake Credit Union, or assisting at Gulf Oil, she brought warmth, reliability, and humor to every job.

Gloria had a heart for simple joys. She loved cats, birdwatching, garage sales, and spending time playing cards and Yahtzee with family and friends.

Her kind spirit, nurturing heart, and deep love for her family and friends left a lasting impact. Gloria maintained many close friendships over the years and will be especially missed by her dear friend, Ken Mighton.

Gloria will be remembered as a woman of quiet strength, a loving mother and grandmother, and a thoughtful friend. Her absence will be felt deeply, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
