Harold David Anderson was born on July 10, 1938, to Thomas and Charlotte Anderson in Kelvington, Saskatchewan. He attended school in Bates Town and Kelvington, where his deep ties to the community began early. As a young man, Harold drove a school bus in the summers, transporting children to swimming lessons at Greenwater Lake.
He worked alongside his brother Peter as a projectionist at the Kelvington theatre and also assisted with electrical work in local homes. A man of many skills, Harold lent a hand on the farm with his brother Tommy and neighbours and developed a lifelong love of working on cars—especially Volkswagens. Over the years, he proudly owned two Beetles and two VW station wagons.
In 1960, Harold joined the armed forces, becoming a radar technician. During a holiday at home the following year, he met the love of his life, Sharon Doan of Kelvington, daughter of Mose and Julia Doan. Their connection was instant, and the two were soon inseparable.
Following a posting to the Yorkton Base, Harold worked in a music store, specializing in the repair of musical equipment. During their time in Yorkton, Harold and Sharon opened their hearts and home as foster parents, caring for infants coming out of the hospital.
After retiring in July 1984, Harold and Sharon returned to Kelvington, where they discovered a shared passion for pattern dancing. They danced enthusiastically, sometimes three nights a week, and traveled as far as Nipawin and Kelliher. Music played a central role in their lives—they performed at countless dances and events with their children, creating cherished family memories. Harold played fiddle, guitar, while Dave played bass, often joined by Sharon on keyboard and accordion, Deborah on keyboard and Hawaiian guitar, and the rest of the family singing in harmony.
Later in life, Harold and Sharon enjoyed winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they continued sharing their music in the local parks, bringing joy to many.
Harold was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Charlotte; stepsister Edna; brothers Tommy and Peter (Sandra); sisters Hazel (John) and Laura (Olaf); and brothers-in-law Vernon (Violet) and Francis.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 60 years, Sharon; his children Christine, Deborah, and David; grandchildren Micheal, Randy, Krista, Pauline, Kyla, and Sonny; and great-grandchildren Braely, Kerryn, Tristan, Elena, Brock, Leo, and Arya; and sister Ida (Norman).
