Hazel Fay McCowan was born on August 30, 1928, on a farm two miles west of Selkirk School (north of Quill Lake). She attended Quill Lake School.
In 1952 she joined the staff of the Red & White Store owned by Boyd Telford, where she worked for 17 years. In 1969 she began working at the town office for Don Camp and remained there also for 17 years.
Hazel was a member of the Quill Lake United Church. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for a number of years.
She enjoyed curling, playing softball and gardening.
Hazel and Edith enjoyed many holidays together, travelling to Scotland, England, Ireland, the Maritimes, various destinations in the US, and a cruise to Alaska.
She was one of the first tenants in the Heritage Home, where she lived for 24 years. Since 2011 she resided in villas in Lanigan, Humboldt and Watson, where she passed away.
Hazel was predeceased by her dad, mother and three sisters, Lillian, Helen and Leona.
She leaves to mourn sisters, Edith McCowan and Irene (twin) (Gordon) Graham; brother-in-law Russ Ferrie; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She will be missed.
