~ Please bring a chair ~
In great sadness, we announce the passing of Jean Turnbull on August 12, 2020 at the age of 76. She was born on October 25, 1943 in McKague, Saskatchewan to Percy and Violet Bray and was the fifth of nine children.
In November of 1961, Jean married Mark Turnbull. They made their first home in Paswegin where she became a member of the Paswegin Tiger Lily Club. Mark and Jean had five children: Allen, Denise, Darin, Dwayne and Terry. On top of being a homemaker for their family of seven, Jean worked several jobs over the years. She worked at the Wadena Auction Market and as a cashier at the local Red and White grocery store as well as the community Co-op. Jean’s favourite thing of all time was working the canteen at Saskin Beach in the summer months. Winters were spent at the curling rink where she enjoyed curling and taking part in the Wadena Ladies Curling Club. During retirement she kept busy by doing things she loved such as reading, crocheting, knitting, puzzles, gardening, playing cards at the Wadena Seniors Center, and camping at Fishing Lake. She also assisted her husband, Mark, with the seniors’ handi-van services in Wadena. Jean loved spending time with kids, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean spent her last few years at Pleasant View Care Home in Wadena where she fit right in with the staff and residents and participated in many of their daily activities. She was well taken care of and very happy to live there.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children: Allen (Linda), Denise (Ron) Bitzer, Darin (Audrey), Dwayne and Terry; 18 grandchildren: Brad, Mark (Carrie), Jason (Melanie), Cody, Mandy (Thomas), Gerald (Melissa), Warren (Laura), Shauna (A.J.), Erich (Lindsay), Ronnie (Michelle), Darci (Cody), Justin (Janelle), Allyssa (Jason), Mandy, Brittany (Earle); 24 great-grandchildren; sisters Gerry Jacobs, Marion (Ray) Oberg, Sandra Johnson, Donna (John) Zarowny; sisters-in-law Doreen Bray and Marion Jesmer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Mark; parents Percy and Violet; sister Audrey; brother-in-law Jack; brothers Dallas, Calvin, and Larry; and sisters-in-law Bonnie and Irene.
