John Michael Sheridan age 74 of Margo, Saskatchewan passed away on November 8, 2025. John was born in 1951 in Toronto, Ontario to Jack and Betty Sheridan. He graduated from Perry Sound High School in 1971 and pursued his passion for photography when he moved to Canmore, Alberta in 1973 to attend the Banff School of Fine Arts. He continued to grow this passion working on films and operating his camera shop the "Shutter Stop" with stints as a chef, contractor, and eventually as a news camera man for CTV in North Bay Ontario. John was a proud father to Merrick, Brett and Alanah. He eventually settled in Margo, Saskatchewan with support of many great friends and neighbours, especially his best pal Michael Goldie.

‘Shermie’ was one of the originators and co-founders of the Canmore Crushers Fastball Club in the mid 70s. The initial objective of the club in the very early years was ‘fun!’ However, Sherm and the co-founders were competitive by nature, which led to joining the Foothills Fastball League in 1977. He played short stop and had a lethal bat providing the team with a hit at the most needed and opportune times. Behind the scenes, he was one of the orchestrators with team decisions, which led to successful league championships in the eight years the Crushers played in the Foothills Fastball League. He was the lead that secured sponsorship with the Canmore Hotel, whose name was featured on the team original brown jerseys. He also chose the team colours, rather unique with brown, yellow and white. His leadership was instrumental with tournament play throughout Alberta and British Columbia allowing the club to either ‘win’ or ‘place’ in most tournaments entered. His efforts culminated with a provincial championship in 1981. It was contributors like Shermie that brought the many successes to the Crushers. Shermie was a student of the game. In later years, Shermie produced the Canmore Crushers Blog, which is still online today. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and hiking around the Rock Mountains. He is remembered by his children Brett and Alanah Sheridan.
