Mom was born at home in the Nut Mountain District on September 2, 1926 to Joe and Edith Ruston.

Dad and Mom were married on November 12, 1945. Dad passed away on April 5, 1984. Mom then married Albert Grunert of Kelvington on June 30, 1987.  When Albert passed away on October 14, 1993 mom remained in the house in Kelvington until an unfortunate fall and a broken hip landed her in the hospital in Kelvington and from there into the care home this past October.

Mom was always busy on the farm, she helped milk cows and sold eggs and cream to buy groceries. There was always a large garden and flowers on the window sills.

Mom loved knitting, crocheting and quilting with her mom and friends. She never threw anything away. She made quilts out of old clothes, rugs out of old nylons and many colorful afghans out of odds and ends of left-over yarn. There wasn’t anything that couldn’t be used for something else. Her motto was “waste not want not”.

She saved clippings from newspapers, magazines, etc., filling many, many scrapbooks with interesting tidbits she thought would be of interest to someone some day.

Flowers were a special joy and in later years she would sit and admire the bouquets family and friends would bring her, commenting on how beautiful they were. She loved having family and friends drop by for a bite and a cup of tea and if you were lucky you might be treated to a cup of her home grown and dried dandelion tea.

Mom also loved going to yard sales, looking for treasures to add to her collection. Animals were another love of hers, especially cats.

Mom taught us early in life that God was our creator and to live our lives in a respectable way. She enjoyed her church and church friends.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Joe and Edith, a sister Edith in infancy, husbands Harry Braaten and Albert Grunert and nephew Wayne Ruston. Mom will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sons Stanley and Mary Anne (Clavet), Dave and Dianne (Whitecourt), Mark (Saskatoon) and James and Sandy (Calgary), her four grandchildren Jeff, Brent, Andria and Christina, seven great grandchildren Nathan, Adam, Kailee, Brooklyn, Jordyn, Atticus and Ingrid Edith, brothers George and Rose (Saskatoon), Dick and Fran (Cranbrook) and Bob Ruston (Nut Mountain) as well as many nieces and nephews.
