Katherine Lynne Malischewski passed away peacefully at Fort Qu’Appelle Hospital on October 23, 2025, at the age of 65.
She was born to the late Robert and June (Kraig) Sauer of Lintlaw at Kelvington Hospital. She grew up on the family farm with three brothers and a sister. She loved being outside with the animals, doing chores, and gardening. She attended school in Lintlaw and Kelvington.
Lynn married Dale Malischewski from Kuroki, and they had two children. They later separated, and in 1980 she met Ed Kluz of Wishart. They were together for 31 years until his sudden passing. A shared love of music and singing led them to entertain at many local events.
Lynn was always cooking delicious meals from their bountiful garden for friends who stopped by for a “jam session.” After leaving the farm, she and Ed moved to Elfros, where she upgraded her education to become an Educational Assistant and worked at Foam Lake School for several years. She later worked at the Wynyard Chicken Plant until her health began to fail.
When she was no longer able to keep up with her yard work, Lynn moved to Hudson Manor in Fort Qu’Appelle. She made many friends there, and true to form, she would make a pot of soup for someone, do some mending, or drive another resident to an appointment. Whether planting flowers, organizing get-togethers, or working on painting projects to decorate inside and out at the manor, Lynn was always keeping busy.
Lynn loved her “tunes,” writing poetry (just like her mom), gardening, sewing, and crafting.
She was a very strong person and chose to have MAID. With family and two dear friends beside her, and her chosen music playing, she passed peacefully — and free of pain.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents, her partner Ed, and her brother-in-law Dennis Malischewski.
Left to mourn are her daughter Lisa (Kevin) McMartin of Wadena; her son Bradley Malischewski of Watson; grandchildren Tristian (Caitlin) of Wadena, Avery McMartin (Chance) of Regina, and Brooke McMartin (Blaine) of Wadena; great-grandson Hayes McMartin of Wadena; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A poem Lynn wrote after a very bad night and shared with her sister.
Good Morning stabbing pain,
I thought you’d gone away,
Well at least I’ve had a rest.
As now you’ll put me through
One more test.
It started with my bath
Usually that gives me some relief
Guess you’re not playing fair today
So I’ll need to go and lay.
Why do you insist on returning?
I was starting to enjoy…
And looking forward to a new way,
Without needing another pill.
I’ll find more strength…courage
Try to calm the storm within
You’ve got me on my knees for now
But I’ll never let you win
~ Lynn Malischewski
