Leonard Warren Fewster passed away peacefully, at the Silver Heights Long Term Care Facility in Raymore, Sk., at 1:30 p.m. on April 19, 2026, at the age of 78.
Len (“Lenny” to those who knew him well) was born on November 19, 1947, in Wadena, SK. He started working for the CPR directly out of high school, working his way up to freight conductor before taking early retirement from the railroad in December 2002.
He loved summers at the lake—fishing, boating, campfires, and time with friends. In 1983, he built a second family home at Fishing Lake with the help of his friend Eddy Gudmundson.
Lenny had a love for driving adventures, travelling all over Saskatchewan to attend hockey games and fall suppers in the area, often taking a new companion along for the trip. He always took one road there and a different one back.
As Len retired early and was still full of energy, he continued his love for carpentry, working with Eddy and helping Jerry and Shannon renovate their house. He also drove truck with the Thirds at harvest time for many years.
Throughout the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, quadding, and snowmobiling. He travelled many miles with friends to find the best spots. No matter what he was doing, he could always be found having coffee at A&W after lunch.
Len was predeceased by his father, George, and his mother, Alice. He is survived by his son Sean (Janelle) of Calgary and their children Meghan, Nicholas (Taylor), and great-grandson Cooper; his daughter Shari (Terry) of Regina and her daughter Emily (Stiger) and great-granddaughters Damara, Renn, and Coraline; his daughter Shannon (Jerry) of Raymore and their children Dylan, Tyler, and Jessica; and his brothers Gary (Sylvia) and Jack (Joanne), along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at both Silver Heights and Golden Acres Long Term Care Facilities for their care over the past four years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Len’s memory can be made to: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Hall in Wynyard, Sk.
Len will be remembered for his great sense of humour, his generous spirit, and the way he spoke his mind freely. He was quiet until you knew him, but once you did, you were met with honesty and a quick wit that stayed with you. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
