Liz & Lyle Sand

Together in life and now reunited in eternal peace, the family lovingly remembers Lyle Sand and Elizabeth "Liz" Sand, whose lives were built on faith, love, family, and hard work.

Lyle Sand, born in October 14, 1936, passed away in October 20, 2019 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Elizabeth "Liz" Sand, born in November 20, 1947, passed away in April 15, 2025 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon after a courageous battle with lung cancer. The date of her passing marked what would have been her and Lyle’s 58th wedding anniversary.

Lyle was raised in the Kyle, Saskatchewan area, while Liz grew up in the Margo district. On April 15, 1967, they were united in marriage and spent nearly 52 wonderful years together, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for their family.

Lyle began his career working on the oil rigs in southern Saskatchewan before spending time driving long-haul transport trucks. He and Liz eventually settled in Asquith, where he enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a Red Seal mechanic at Cory Potash Mine until his retirement. Never one to sit idle, Lyle spent his retirement years working on vehicles and pursuing his passion for woodworking. He was especially proud to be a devoted hockey dad, faithfully supporting his sons throughout their years on the ice.

Liz dedicated herself to raising their family as a full-time homemaker until both sons had graduated from high school. She had a true gift for gardening, filling her home with thriving houseplants and her yard with beautiful flowers. She was known for her warm hospitality, always welcoming family and friends with a fresh pot of coffee and heartfelt conversation. Later in life, she worked as a housekeeper at a local hotel in Saskatoon until early 2025. She also worked at a Senior Complex for many years prior to her passing.

Lyle was predeceased by his parents, William and Elsie Sand, and his brother, Wilf Sand. Liz was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph "Pete" and Georgina "Ena" Bohl; her brother, Don Bohl; and, after sharing a lifetime together, by her beloved husband, Lyle.

They leave behind a loving family who will forever cherish their memory: their sons, Darren (Sarah) Sand and Shawn (Liala) Sand; their treasured grandchildren, Lotus, Rowan, Heather, Brooklyn, and Danielle Sand; Liz's brother, Ed (Jan) Bohl; Lyle's sister, Shirley (Dale) Schotannus; along with numerous extended family members and many dear friends.

Lyle and Liz built a life grounded in kindness, dedication, and unconditional love for their family. Though they are deeply missed, those who knew them find comfort in knowing they are together once again. Their legacy lives on through the values they instilled, the memories they created, and the love they shared so generously with everyone around them.
