Mark Turnbull

November 16, 1936 — April 22, 2017

Mark Allan Turnbull was born on November 16, 1936, in Wadena Hospital to John and Elva Turnbull. He attended school at Paswegin School until grade eight. After school, he worked for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool building elevators. After a 30-ft. fall from an annex of the elevator, he quit the Sask. Wheat Pool and worked road construction for a few years with the Department of Highways.

During this time, he met and married Gloria Jean Bray on November 25, 1961. They made their first home in Paswegin before moving to Wadena. Mark and Jean have five children including Allen, Denise, Darin, Dwayne and Terry.

Mark worked for the R. M. of Lakeview for the next 36 years as the grader operator. Summers were spent at Saskin Beach where they managed the concession booth and campgrounds. Winters were spent at the curling rink where he enjoyed curling and maintaining the ice.

In 1977, the family moved back to Paswegin where they lived until they moved into seniors’ housing in Wadena. Mark retired at 65, but not really. He kept busy with taking care of the Paswegin Cemetery and driving the local seniors’ handi-van for several years.

He is predeceased by his parents, John and Elva; brother Jimmy; sister Irene; and nephew Tyson.

Mark is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Allen (Linda), Denise (Ron), Darin (Audrey), Dwayne (Trena), and Terry; 18 grandchildren, Brad, Mark (Carrie), Jason (Melanie), Cody (Stephanie), Mandy, Gerald (Melissa), Warren (Laura), Shauna, Erich (Lindsey), Ronnie (Michelle), Darci, Justin, Allyssa, Mandy, Brittany, Larissa, Paige, and Derek; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
