Mary Jane Stoney (née Apooch), the beloved wife of her late husband, Harry Stoney, age 83, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. Born on April 7, 1942, Mary Jane lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, warmth, and grace.

Our dear mom loved her family and her friends. She is survived by her adopted brothers Douglas Standing Rock and Bob Badger SR; beloved daughters Valene Stoney-Smokyday (Jonah), Vivian Stoney, Violet Kayseass, and Barbara Sinclair; her adopted sons Raymond Shingoose, Byron Langan, Delmont Asapace, and Henry Traverse; and her cherished grandchildren Tia, Harley, Emett (Neysa), Joshua, Jc II, Jordan. Lance Crowe, Wellington Spence, Carlos Tom, DonJay Nelson, Nate, Clementine, Kelsy, Curtis (Jeannine), Kristen, Jaime, Cory, Everette, Lloyd Jr. (Kreason), Chaquille, Letrell, and Avery.

Mary Jane's legacy continues through her treasured Great-Grandchildren Courage, Angel, Athena, Achilles, Kratos, Emett Jr., King, Charlaya, Autumn, Serayah, Evander, Zacharia, Zane, Zayden, Christian, Noah, Bella, Hunter, Thunder, and Morningstar, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and pride. As well as numerous adopted relatives.

Mary Jane was predeceased by her loving husband Harry Stoney; her parents Joseph and Eliza Apooch; and her dear daughters Varina Stoney, Verna Stoney, and Viola Stoney.

A traditional wake will be held at Unit 404, Range Road 2125, Valene's Farm, Yellow Quill First Nation on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The burial will take place on Yellow Quill First Nation on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. A comfort NAC ceremony will follow on Thursday evening, September 25, 2025, at the same location, continuing into the morning of Friday, September 26, 2025, with a traditional feast to follow, and everyone is welcome.

Mary Jane will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Her presence will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
