It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Amy Weinhandl on October 17, 2025 in the Kelvington Hospital at the age of 87.
Mildred was born March 18, 1938, to Archie & Hilda Parry on a farm near Springside SK. When she was a small child, they moved to a homestead northeast of Stove Creek Store, in the Arden Leigh School District where she went to school.
In 1951, she met Lorence Weinhandl, the love of her life, and they were married on April 1, 1955 in the Lintlaw United Church. At this time, she began working side by side with her husband on the farm. They farmed together for 39 years. During this time, they raised 4 children: Charles, Keith, Elaine & Marlene.
She enjoyed working with her husband farming, planing lumber, gardening, baking, knitting, crocheting, curling, travelling to visit family & sightseeing, playing cards & shuffleboard, as well as casino bus tours. She always made time for friends & family who stopped by for a visit and there was always food & coffee on the table.
She was a very nurturing mother and always very concerned for her family’s well-being. She would help them all out without question. She worked for many years as an auction clerk for family.
In 1994, they retired to the Village of Lintlaw, where she joined many groups, such as Lintlaw Golden Glory Club, Wadena Farmers Market & Lintlaw Sunshine Belles. She loved to help out as best she could in the community. In more recent years, she enjoyed her Card Playing Network, which checked in on each other regularly.
She was always a thoughtful person who never wanted anyone to worry or fuss over her. After a courageous battle with cancer that lasted less than a year, she passed away peacefully at the Kelvington Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Left to mourn her passing are her children: Charles (Sandra) Weinhandl, Elaine (Lorne) Melsted, and Marlene (Tim) Chodak; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth; and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Lorence; her siblings, Edward, James, Bill, Fred, Edith, and Elsie, and their spouses; brothers-in-law Henry and George (and his wife Marian); her son, Keith; and her great-grandson, Charles.
She will be sadly missed & forever remembered in our hearts.
