Nettie Sylvia Nelson

July 14, 1945 — August 24, 2025

Elfros

Nettie was born on July 14, 1945 to Alex and Mary (Tataryn) in Wadena, SK. She passed away suddenly on August 24, 2025.

Nettie met Terry in 1964 and they were married on July 27, 1968. They were blessed with three daughters Shari (Keith) Lindal, Carla (Wayne) Karakochuk, and Rhonda (Kevin) Bzdel. Grandchildren Jordan (Alyssa), Logan (Brooklyn) and Jackson Karakochuk, Allie and Lila Lindal, Brooke and Kade Bzdel. They also cared for two foster children, Grant and Scotty.

Nettie attended school in Kuroki, Yorkton, and Wadena. After graduating she worked odd jobs at The Bessbourgh Hotel and as a Nanny in Saskatoon. Nettie and Terry resided in Kelvington before making Elfros their permanent home. While raising her family Nettie worked at Crawfords, Department of Highways, and the Elfros Coop for 25 years. After retiring she continued to work casual at the Mozart Post Office, house cleaning, and the RM Office Janitor. She officially retired from the RM at the end of June 2025.

Nettie was active on many committees over the years. She was on the Figure Skating Club, Elfros Rink Board (fundraising for a new rink), and Village Council.

Nettie and Terry enjoyed 20 summers at their Fishing Lake lot. She enjoyed gardening -saying it was her “happy place”, canning, cooking, baking, and an avid cup collector (approx. 125). She was a Rider fan and enjoyed many hours of watching curling. Nettie loved her daily coffee visits with her friends.

Nettie’s greatest joy was being a Gamma (as her grandkids called her) to her seven grandchildren. She was a very proud grandma and never missed their activities.

Nettie was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Terry, father Alex, mother Mary, brother Ken, brother-in-law Don, father-in-law Bobbie, and mother-in-law Lila.

She is survived by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, sisters Connie Wagner and Judy (Roger) Bartel, and brother Dan (Trish) Schultz. As well as aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
