We lovingly remember Olive Eileen Kereluke (85) who passed away peacefully at St. Ann's Home in Saskatoon on October 1, 2014. She spent her final days surrounded by her family. Olive was born on April 19, 1929, in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan, to Herbert and Mary Jean Wyborn. She was one of 13 children raised on the family farm five miles southwest of Hazel Dell. She attended Lone Spruce School from 1936 to 1946. Mom shared many of her childhood memories and stories of leaving the family home to stay as a live-in companion to family and friends. Olive was truly a caregiver, and was proud of her career as a care aide. She worked in the Weneeda Park Lodge and the Wadena Hospital until she retired in 1994. Olive moved to Wadena in 1950. She met John and they married on November 6, 1953. Olive and John had four children: Terrance, Darwin, Kathy, and Brenda. John died in July 1970 and Olive lovingly raised and provided for her children. She was a truly amazing woman who faced the challenges life put before her with grace, determination, and a sense of humour. In December 1977 Olive married Norman Olson and was a mother to his children until their divorce in 1993. You were always welcome in Olive's home. It was important to Olive to spend time with family and friends. She was quick to laugh and always had a funny story to share. Even though Olive was kind and compassionate, she was often willing to share her strong opinions on certain subjects that would come up around the kitchen table. The most important people in Olive's life were her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of her family. Olive was diagnosed with dementia in 2005 and entered long-term care in 2006. Olive was predeceased by her parents; husband John; infant son Terrance; brothers, Dave, Elmer, Bill, Clifford, Edgar and Wes; sisters, Mary, Annie, Carrie and Irene. Olive leaves to mourn her son Darwin (Laureen) Kereluke; daughters, Kathy (Dale) Kozar and Brenda (Bert) Klassen; grandchildren, John (Erin), Jacob, Jared, Joel, Hollie (Kent), Corey (Amanda), Matthew and Thomas; great-grandchildren Kayla, Alexa, Jadah, Cain, and Thor; sisters Esther Mills and Alvena Oryszczyn; and many nieces and nephews.
