Robert Edwin Elander passed away peacefully on September 6, 2018, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He was born in Wadena, Sask., on April 2, 1936, to Joseph Edwin and Helga Elander. He lived and spent his life on the country farm. He married Justina Geras and they had three children: Laureen, Reginald and Deborah. He had seven grandchildren: Nathan, Kendall, Gabriel, Rachel, Christopher, Quinton and Scott, and two great-grandchildren: Abby and Brooklyn. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor and parents, Edwin and Helga. Robert remarried to Ivy, who predeceased him. He spent a wonderful period of time with a dear friend, Alice Munday, whom he loved dearly, and who also predeceased him. Robert was a well-loved man in the farming community for many years. He did some carpentry work at a number of places, but mostly resided on the farm. He worked a few years at Berg’s Chick Hatchery in the late 1980s. He also slung beer in a few bars and enjoyed life with friends who have since passed on. He enjoyed curling, time spent at the lake with family and friends, and other family functions.In 2001, Robert had a serious stroke that totally turned his life around. He spent the last few years with health issues that got progressively worse. He resided in Pleasant View Care Home for 17 years. He had surgery on his shoulder in late July 2018 and spent the last six weeks in the Royal University Hospital. He will be missed deeply by friends and relatives.
