Sannie was born on January 31, 1933, to Peter and Annie (Stasiuk) Kralka. She had an older sister Nellie and two brothers, Paul and George. She grew up on a farm west of Rose Valley and attended Robbinsdale No. 1 School.
From a young age, she helped on the farm with various chores such as gardening, milking cows, picking stones and roots, and helping in the house.
Chores had to be done before going to school and in the evening as well. Every child had the responsibility to bring the cows home from the pasture for milking. They were often up to a mile away from home in the bush so you had to stop and listen for the sound of the cow bell that the lead cow wore. Another daily responsibility was to make sure that the wood box was heaped up, filled to last until the next afternoon. “No excuses” ever!
Sannie worked hard and never complained.
On October 18, 1952, she married John Schurko, and spent the first 13 days of her married life living at home because John ended up in the hospital with a ruptured appendix on the wedding day. After he was released, they moved to their little two-room house in the same yard as John’s parents. Sannie continued with her farm work. They were blessed with two children, Linda and Myron.
Sannie cross-stitched many doilies and tables clothes and embroidered on tea towels. She enjoyed visiting, playing cards and dancing. She baked bread and every birthday there was a birthday cake to enjoy.
She was a member of the church ladies’ aid in Rose Valley and worked at many functions.
In 1986, they bought a new house and moved it to Rose Valley and retired.
They lied in Rose Valley for 23 years, then moved their house to Tisdale.
Then after four years the yard got to be too much work, so they moved to a lodge in Muenster. They lived there until John’s health failed and had to go to a care home in Humboldt. It got to be too hard to get to Humboldt to see John so she moved to Harry Ford Lodge in Humboldt. After some time her health failed and she moved to Pleasant View Care Home in Wadena, where she passed away on Tuesday, January 23.
Sannie was predeceased by her sister Nellie; parents, Peter and Annie; in-laws, Steve and Eva; and brother-in-law John.

She will be sadly missed by her husband John; son Myron; daughter Linda (Dwight); grandchildren, Callie (Ward) Third, Kristie (Shaun) Mino, Jayden (Kelsey) Demmans, Jonathan Schurko, Lynn (Lonaven) Kohlen, Ashley (Cody) Prevost, Jamie Schurko; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (MaryAnn) Kralka and George (Nadia) Kralka.
