Stanley (Stan) Michaluk passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years at Pleasant View Care Home in Wadena on August 27, 2018.Stan was born on May 21, 1923, on the farm near Gilbert Plains, Manitoba. Upon reaching the age of 14, he went to work for farmers and in lumber camps. He married Anne Hawryluk in 1947 and to this union five children were born, including a set of twins. They farmed north of Quill Lake and then bought a farm near Clair, Saskatchewan. They moved to Bradgate School – Nora, Saskatchewan, Scrip School – north of Clair, where Anne taught and Stan still farmed. They moved again to Wadena, where he lived until his passing. During the years after he sold the farm, he worked at the Dana Radar Base, UGG Housing, Gardiner Dam, Department of Highways, and maintenance for the Town of Wadena.After retirement, he spent many enjoyable hours volunteering at the Wadena District Museum, where he was instrumental in helping establish it. Stan was a member of the Wadena Lions Club from 1966-1976.Stan was a diligent worker, punctual, and had a good sense of humour, liked to joke and laugh, dance, liked nature, horses, small towns, and the Riding Mountains in Manitoba.His favourite pastimes were reading, woodworking, watching TV (especially WWF), spending time at Barrier Lake, working at the museum, and playing with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Stan will be lovingly remembered by Anne (Hawryluk) his wife of 71 years; his children, Rosaline Winnichyn, Gloria (Marno) Hultin, Lucille (Reg) Kish, Lois (Wout de Vos), and John (Sheryl); seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; and by special friends, Bill and Nell Wasyluk.Stan was predeceased by his parents, Fredko and Justina (Tycholis) Michaluk; nine sisters, six brothers (two in infancy) and their spouses; Anne’s parents, Hnat and Katherine Hawryluk, and her four brothers and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews on both sides; a great-niece, and by his son-in-law John Winnichyn.Stan was the last surviving member of the Michaluk sibblings.Vichnaya Pamiat! Eternal Memory!
