It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Stella Bzdel on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the age of 89.

Stella was born on June 17, 1934, on the family homestead near Elfros to Anastasia and Harry Lysyk, the first of six children.  She attended Royal Rock School.   On June 14, 1952, Stella married the love of her life, Tom Bzdel. Their union spanned 56 years, during which they worked side by side on their farm, raising four daughters while creating an environment where family and friends were always welcome.

A devoted wife and mother, Stella had the ability to make you feel like you were the most important person in the room.  A beautiful soul and classy woman in every respect.  Stella was an excellent cook, baker and seamstress. She was an active member in the community and her church and she enjoyed going for coffee, playing three-spot and bowling.

She loved the outdoors and every aspect of farm life.  She was greatly involved in seeding and harvest with her husband.  In later years, she would still look forward to spring seeding and suppers in the field during harvest. She planted a big garden, maintained her large yard and was very proud of her abundance of beautiful flowers. Each spring she couldn’t wait to start her plants in the greenhouse and looked forward to the long days of summer.

Stella’s love for her daughters extended to her sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and families by creating unbreakable bonds that filled her heart with joy.

She will be remembered for her generosity, positive attitude, and kind heart.  Stella's zest for life, sense of humour and quick-witted comments persisted even in the face of illness. She was always that “bag of surprises” everyone loved.
