Fishing Lake First Nation

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Wayne Patrick Nataucappo, who passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Wayne was raised on Fishing Lake First Nation and attended Muskowekwan Residential School. He had a lifelong love of hockey and was a devoted Pittsburgh Penguins fan. He also enjoyed music and found great fulfillment coaching children in his community.

Wayne met the love of his life, Laura, at Dave's Diner when he was 20 years old. They were married on August 21, 2004, in Kylemore, Saskatchewan, and shared many happy years together.

He worked at the grain terminals in Sakatchewan before pursuing carpentry. Prior to his illness, Wayne worked in maintenance for Fishing Lake First Nation and served as a janitor at Chief Sabitawasis School. He was also a Band Councillor & Trustee for the 1907 Surrender Trust. He was brutally honest.

More than anything, Wayne cherished his family. His grandson, Jensen, was his pride and joy and constant little sidekick.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Betty and John, and his siblings Bob, May, Hazel, Stanley, Gordon, David, Mike, Joyce, and Rose.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Laura; his daughter, Martina (Tyler) and their son, Jensen; his son, Brian; his siblings Dale (Leo), Verna (Donny), Glen (Virginia), Sylvia, Ruth, Johnny, and Darcy (Rose); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

Wayne will be remembered for his love of family, and the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
