Wes Kostiuk was born January 29, 1936 in the Wishart District SW 18-29 Range 15. He was the fifth and last child of Alex and Isabel Kostiuk. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the age of 82.
Wes attended Perryville School, completing grade 8.
He worked part of a season for a local farmer named Howard Nelson. Later for Brander’s Line Construction on telephone, two years in northern British Columbia, then back again for Brander’s Line Construction in Saskatchewan on both telephone and power. Leaving Saskatchewan he went to work for Alto Line Construction in northern Ontario, climbing 75 and 90-foot power poles –  a job he was very proud of and proficient at.
In July 1962, he married Nellie Wielgoz, daughter of Mike and Mary Wielgoz of Wishart.
They called Wishart home and raised four children, three sons and one daughter: Alexander (Bonnie) (Colin - Carissa and Danielle - Philip), Maurice ((Matthew - Rachelle, Paisley) Josh and Sera), Monte (Vicki) (Brandon and Wendy) and the youngest, Petina (Samantha and Shanise)
“Gedo,” as he was known by his grandchildren, loved to spend his time with them.
Wes and Nellie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in July 2012.
While raising a family, Wes worked construction at the Lanigan Potash mine site, Parkland Concrete  Wynyard, then all over Saskatchewan with Gas Lines and Electrical Services. He returned to Wishart and worked at the Wishart Hotel, then spent 12 years working for the Village of Wishart. From there he went to work at the Lillydale chicken plant, where an industrial accident accelerated his retirement.
Wes enjoyed going to the barn to take care of his pet animals. The cattle came the moment he called their names. Fishing, mushroom picking, bingo and playing cards were outings he dearly enjoyed.
Wes was predeceased by his mother, Isabel Kostiuk (Shewchuk), father Alex Kostiuk, brother in-law Isaac Dobranski, brother Lenard Kostiuk, brother in-law John Kuyek and brother in-law Ernest Hovind.
Wes is survived by his wife Nellie; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild; sisters, Ann Dobranski, Doreen Kuyek, and Beatrice Hovind; sister in-law Helen Kostiuk; as well as numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wes,we will dearly miss your presence.
