In Loving Memory of

Bernie Norman

A celebration of Bernie's life will be held at a later date.

Bernie James Norman was born in Wynyard, Saskatchewan on January 7, 1959 to Einar and Kathleen Norman. After seven months, he lost his battle to cancer with his family by his side at the young age of 61 on May 15, 2020.

Bernie and his family made Foam Lake, Saskatchewan home where he graduated and decided to pursue a career in carpentry. He truly loved what he did for a living. Wood working and building was his passion. Bernie was very artistic as well, he was always sketching and creating something beautiful and getting the kids to paint them up.

Bernie met his loving wife Pamela and married on August 30, 1986 in Regina, Saskatchewan. They had three beautiful children together Ashley, Jennifer and Justin. Bernie and Pamela made their home in Tuffnell, Saskatchewan until 2000, when they moved to and currently resided in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan.

Bernie loved planting a garden alongside Pamela, a good game of curling, the annual softball tournament August long weekend in Tuffnell, swimming, bowling, three spot and crib. He was a very active member at the bowling center from his weekly night of bowling to competing in tournaments around the province representing Foam Lake. Bernie was an exceptionally good swimmer; he loved to be out at the cabin with his family at the lake. He enjoyed sitting around the bonfire roasting a hot dog that had to be burnt black to his liking. He was so happy to get all his children, nieces and nephews together August long weekend to spend time together to enjoy good games of softball, which they rarely won. He always enjoyed a great game of three spot and crib, a strong cup of coffee or one of his .05 beers and visiting with anyone for hours. He was sure to pick up the phone for a chat with his childhood buddies to reminisce about the good old days. Bernie took pride in being an active member of the Foam Lake Legion serving and doing what he could on their behalf.

Pam and Bernie got the travel bug after they went south on their 25th anniversary gift and they very much enjoyed getting away and soaking up some sun during the winter. It was always an adventure with those two country bumpkins travelling all over, making memories that will last a lifetime.

You could usually find Bernie up on a roof somewhere shingling or tinning someone’s roof with his radio blaring on 750 CKJH. He was a great roofer and wasn’t scared of any kind of job he got to do. He was never short of duct tape whether it was for a patch job, first aid kit supplies, or work boots that could always be fixed and never replaced. Bernie was always off driving anywhere and everywhere to estimate a job site up, he made many miles on the highway. He was always there when his kids called for a helping hand from building something at the farm for Ashley and Bruce to helping his son Justin on one of his last big jobs building Justin’s home with him.

Bernie was all about family. He was very proud of his family, especially his two granddaughters that he adored more than anything, Skylee and Everley. They were the sunshine and joy in his world; he was a very proud Ovi. There was nothing more that he enjoyed than having a family supper and watching the girl’s dance around, jump on the trampoline and getting them to do his “shake a paw” hand shake. The girls were always sure to put a smile on Ovis face and get him giggling. He was truly the best husband, father and Ovi that we could have ever asked for in life. Bernie was a kind, easy-going, hard-working, strong, loving man.

Bernie was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer, father Einar, mother Kathleen, father-in-law Russell, and mother-in-law Kathleen.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 33 years, Pamela, daughter Ashley (Brian), son Justin (friend Chelsie), granddaughters Skylee and Everley, sister Cindy (Don), brother Mitch (Ann), brother Mark, brother Dale, sister-in-law Shannon, sister-in-law Sheri, brother-in-law Patrick (Nicole), his aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.
