Doreen Elvera Jean Lindgren was born in Regina, SK to Joseph and Elizabeth Fernwalt on December 1, 1926. They moved from Huronville, SK, north of Fillmore, SK, on November 4, 1934 to Kelvington, SK and they purchase land in the Clufield district.

Doreen took all her schooling at Hill Peak High School by correspondence. She went to work for a few years at Peter Fraser’s General Store. She met and married Lloyd Lindgren and became the typical farm wife, milking cows and feeding cows, pigs, and chickens. They both loved the land but also loved fishing. They always tried to get away for a week to La Ronge with friends but spent as much time as possible at Greenwater Lake; their dream was to have a cabin there. This dream came true in 1973. So many good times were had at the cabin with family and friends, from fishing, swimming, ski-doing and eating. Health problems came and the land was sold. After Lloyd’s passing, Doreen made Greenwater her home all summer until late fall. Eventually, she moved the house from the farm into town and resided there in the wintertime. In 2018 she sold her home and moved across the street to the Villa. She missed the lake and all her friends there so much.

Doreen loved doing crafts, knitting, crotchet work, needle work, petite paint and quilting with the girls. She also loved to dance. She belonged to the Evening Circle, United Church Women Red Hats and the Friendship Club. She was very involved with the Cancer Society for many years and organized the local fire department for the annual canvas.

Doreen was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, parents Joe and Jean, sister Evelyn Elliott, brother Norman Fernwalt, niece Shirley Kemp, nephew Barry Elliott and sister-in-law Lila Fernwalt. Left to celebrate her life are Lyall and Pat Elliott, Kim and Kevin and families Garth and Gloria Elliott, Dinalle and Jodie and families, Murray and Donna Fernwalt, Chelsea, Katelyn and families, David Kemp, Sherry Kemp and families, Dave Kemp and families and numerous great nieces and nephews.
