Edward Stanley Rudniski was born August 28, 1928 on a farm west of Wynyard, SK. He was the oldest of five children born to John and Josephine (Chaban) Rudniski.
Eddie grew up on the homestead farm south of Wynyard and attended Round Hills School for grades 1-7 and Larissa School for grade 8, after which he remained on the farm for most of his adult life. He attended the School of Vocational Agriculture in Saskatoon, SK where he excelled in his program, but city life was not for him so he moved back to the farm. He spent a brief time in the early 1960's working in Pilot Butte, SK for a construction company and with a Regina telephone company. Again his love for farm life drew him home where he farmed together with his brother Emil until his retirement. His knowledge of mechanics and his meticulous record keeping were great assets to the operation.
Eddie enjoyed watching all sports especially hockey and baseball. He was a key member of the Round Hill Rockets softball team in the early 1950's. He covered much territory as a talented center fielder and was the lead-off batter who consistently reached base safely.
He enjoyed playing cards, especially crib and three-spot, as well as doing jigsaw puzzles with as many as 5000 pieces. He was an avid gardener and berry picker who kept everyone well supplied with fruit and vegetables.
When his father passed away he moved to Wynyard where he lovingly looked after his mother. They enjoyed visiting friends as well as hosting them in return. There were many three-spot games played during this time. He was an active member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church and supported their activities.
His nieces and nephews loved “Uncle Eddie” to the fullest and enjoyed being with him at family celebrations especially for the annual potato picking bee.
Eddie will be remembered for being a very humble man. He lived a very simple, modest life and avoided being the center of attention, yet enjoyed the company of others. He was a man of few words but when he spoke people paid attention because there was great relevance in what he said.
Eddie was very active and independent well into his later years and he enjoyed his lengthy walks around town. He was able to live alone until his health declined and he moved to Golden Acres Nursing home where he lived until his passing.
Eddie was predeceased by his parents; brother Emil and sister-in-law Sophie Rudniski brother-in-law Harry Bohachik and nephew Greg Bohachik. He is survived by his sister Eleanor Bohachik of Saskatoon, SK, brother Conrad (Rita) Rodney of Yorkton, SK and brother Vern (Doreen) Rudneski of Watrous, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
