Elizabeth Yamniuk was born on December 8, 1938, in Wadena, SK, the only child to Mary and Victor Yamniuk.
Liz grew up on a farm near Fosston, SK and walked three miles to the one-room schoolhouse near Ponass Lake. She stayed there until she boarded in Wadena and finished her high school. During this time, Liz met a few of her lifelong friends. After high school, Liz moved to Weyburn to attend Nursing School.
Not long after that, she met her first husband and had her daughter, Beverly. Three years later, she welcomed another daughter, Bonnie, and a quick year after her first son, Arnold. An even quicker year after that her youngest son Robert was born, who blessed Bonnie with the same birthday.
There were constant trips to the farm and back to Regina which showed her value in Family. Liz was always a Daddy’s Girl and she enjoyed having ALL her family close together.
After 10 years, her first marriage ended. Being an attractive woman, in no time she met her second husband with whom she had her last daughter, Shannon.
Liz was a stay-at-home mother who invested a lot of her time caring for her five children. She worked at the school library and volunteered her time with a number of activities in her community. She also worked in a retail store called Ricki’s, where she worked hard and loved working with the public.
After her oldest four children moved out, she moved her family to Lintlaw, a community close to where her mother still lived in Fosston. In Lintlaw Elizabeth met more of her lifelong friends and reconnected with old friends and cousins where her relationships grew.
She enjoyed spending time in her new community working at the post office, and her gardening on her acreage. After Liz’s husband passed, she remained on the acreage for a few more years until she reunited with her mother in Fosston, where she cared for her until she passed.
Elizabeth had many friends and family that she visited and played cards with. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing games on her IPAD, helping others, and laughing.
The last few months of Liz’s life, she travelled with her oldest son and two grandchildren to visit with her three daughters’ families in Edmonton. She spent an entire month enjoying being spoiled, visiting, shopping, going to hockey games and living her life.
Elizabeth’s five children, five grandchildren and soon-to-be great granddaughter will miss her deeply.
