Ellsworth Donald Richard Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Ellsworth was born to Edwin and Bella Johnson on May 22, 1929, at home on the family farm four miles east of Spalding, Saskatchewan. His 92 years were filled with family, friends, hard work and serving his Saviour. He was the third of five children and attended the Lake Edward School. After completing grade 10, he worked on the family farm alongside his father Edwin and his brother Wellace. Ellsworth accepted the Lord as his Saviour in his late teens and felt led by the Lord to attend Bible School in Caronport and Pambrun for three years. It was at Miller Memorial Bible Institute in Pambrun that he met Evelyn Klassen. They were married on July 4, 1954, and together they raised their six children to love and honour the Lord. After a short time as a Rena Ware salesman in Saskatoon and Prince Albert, they moved back to the family farm where they spent the next 50 years farming grain and livestock.

In 2008, Ellsworth and Evelyn moved to Sunrise Village in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, so that they could be closer to family. In 2011, after Evelyn was hospitalized in Red Deer, Ellsworth moved to Revera Inglewood in Red Deer to be close to her. Evelyn passed away October 5, 2011.

Ellsworth married Bernice Finch May 26, 2012, and they resided at Revera Inglewood until 2020, when failing health necessitated his move to Rimbey Care Center in Rimbey, Alberta, where he remained until his passing.

Ellsworth took pleasure in seeding his crops, watching them grow and harvesting them. He especially enjoyed hunting with his brother Wellace, fishing with family and friends, flying his Piper Super Cub, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed serving his Lord through his involvement at Crossroads Bible Church, helping at Stoney Lake Bible Camp, and supporting numerous missions such as Sudan Interior Missions now called Serving in Missions, Northern Canada Evangelical Mission and The Gideons.

Ellsworth will be missed by his beloved wife Bernice; his children: Elmona (Victor) Penner, Elwin (Michelle) Johnson, Carolyn (Rick) Brooks, Janette Johnson, Leighton Johnson and Lyndon Johnson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Eunice Munshaw of Minneapolis, MN; his brother Glenwood Johnson of Spalding, SK; his in-laws from the Klassen and Johnson families; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends, too numerous to list.
