Jean Gloria Blosser was born July 11, 1925, in Viscount, Saskatchewan to Oscar and Christina Berg of Kelvington.  Christina went to Viscount in early July to be with her mother-in-law who was the mid-wife for the birth.  Jean was the first born to Oscar and Christina.  Her brother Wilford came a year later, and Iona 10 years later.

Jean grew up on a farm northeast of Kelvington, attending Hill Peak school until grade 10.  She continued her education in Kelvington while boarding with Fred and Olga Patrick.  Upon completion of grade 11, she moved to Saskatoon where she worked as a waitress and in retail.

On August 9, 1946, Jean married the love of her life, Frank Blosser.  Together they built a life of commitment to each other and to their family.  They had two sons: Donald Elston Blosser in 1949 and Kenneth Erling Blosser in 1954.   In the early years of the marriage, they moved often from coast to coast as dictated by the Navy.  Jean was noted for her ability to organize and pack up a household in record time.  Eventually they landed in Victoria where they spent the last 10 years before Frank’s retirement from the Navy in 1967.

Jean and Frank moved to Kelvington to begin farming in 1968.  Jean was reluctant to move back and agreed on the condition they would build a new house in town on the only paved street at that time in Kelvington.  Jean lived in that house for the next 51 years.  She made some great friends upon moving to Kelvington and took a very active part in the community.  She was a dedicated member of the Eastern Star, the Legion Women’s Auxiliary, the Hospital Axillary, the Anglican Church in Kelvington, and later Lintlaw, and the Friendship Club.

Jean and Frank filled their lives with shared passions for dancing, bridge, travel, Eastern Star, and, most importantly, their family.  Jean took her role as mother very seriously.  She was a great homemaker, and took pride in cleanliness, organization, and fairness.  She also took her role as the oldest sibling to heart with her many nieces and nephews, staying connected through her life by letters and phone calls.

Her greatest joys were her two grandchildren, Breann and Tristan, and more recently, her two great grandchildren Cecilia and Kate.  They never failed to bring Jean great joy during the many times spent together.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Frank, brother Wilford, and sister Iona.  She is survived by sons Don and Ken (Joyce), grandchildren Tristan (Nikki) and Breann (Steve), and great grandchildren Cecilia and Kate.

Jean spent the last two years at the Kelvindell Lodge and never missed an opportunity to say how well looked after she felt and how kind and caring the staff treated everyone.  Jean passed away peacefully in Kelvington in the care of these wonderful people.  The family sincerely thanks everyone on staff at the Lodge and Hospital that provided such gentle compassion for Jean in her final home.
