Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Joe Mazur

Joseph Mazur passed away peacefully in Wynyard, SK, on January 26, 2021 at the age of 84.

Joseph was born on August 24, 1936 in Wadena, SK and attended school at Rushville and Wynyard, SK. He took over the family farm and continued to work until 2010 when he retired.

Joseph was always engaged in the community and enjoyed playing cards and curling with friends. Joe was a special person who would always extend a helping hand to anyone and everyone with a smile, as did everyone for him. Joe enjoyed travelling to such places as Ukraine to visit the birthplace of his father, the Expo in Vancouver, B.C., across various provinces, to the Yorkton Casino with friends and to one of his favorite destinations, Las Vegas, Nevada. The most special trips he took was to visit his sisters Minnie and Pauline and their families for holiday festivities.

Joseph is survived by his younger sister Pauline (Syl) Stachiw of Saskatoon, SK, brother-in-law Walter Badun of Edmonton, AB and niece and nephews Glen (Sandra) Badun of Edmonton, AB, Debby (Troy) Badun-Wright of Edmonton, AB, Greg Stachiw of Calgary, AB, Jody Stachiw of Calgary, AB and Sheldon Stachiw of Edmonton, AB.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents Mary and Michael Mazur, sister Minnie Badun (November 15, 2014) and niece Shannon Stachiw (December 15, 2020).

Joe, you were the best brother, uncle, and a good friend to everyone. You will be missed and in our hearts forever.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside service and burial will take place on May 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church St Michael’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Parish RM of Emerald #277 (Wishart North) with a reception to follow. Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate Joseph’s life.

In lieu of flowers, for Joseph’s love of animals, he would want all donations given to the SPCA.
