In Loving Memory of

Marie Fidelak

A private funeral service will take place at a later date.

Marie Fidelak was welcomed by her wonderful Heavenly Father, who she loved very much, on October 21, 2109.

Marie was born to Wasyl and Annastatia Pawluk on August 1, 1921 in Zabokreky, Ukraine. In 1927 the family came to Canada where they settled in the Kuroki area. She attended school there. In 1938 Marie’s long-time dream came true, she moved to Toronto where she worked as a nurse in the Toronto General Hospital and at an aircraft factory during WWII.

It was when she came back to Kuroki for a holiday that she met the love of her life, Paul. They married two years later and were blessed with a son, Bernie, and two daughters, Ruth and Donna. Marie and Paul were very involved in the Kuroki Baptist Church; she loved teaching Sunday School. Marie attended community college classes and became a very talented artist. Roses and various flowers and landscapes were her specialty. She was also an amazing seamstress, sewing clothes for the children late into the night and sewed the bridesmaid dresses for her daughters, Donna and Ruth. She, along with other ladies, loved to sing for the elderly in Wadena, Kelvington and Invermay lodges for many years. She had the voice of an angel. She was also very involved in the Horticulture Society where she won several first prizes for her paintings and flower arrangements.

She enjoyed gardening and always grew a large, plentiful garden. Her job every Thanksgiving was to arrange a beautiful harvest display in the front of the alter, always giving thanks. She always gave generously to her family and neighbors. She was a loving, Godly, caring, wonderful mother and a true “Prayer Warrior”. She would pray every morning, throughout the day and every night, and God always heard her prayer and kept us all safe in his loving tender care. She prayed the night before she went to be with Jesus… for every single family member by name. She was so precious!

She cared for her father at home and in the hospital and her mom. She loved us all and prayed for us all until her passing. She was so kind and never said a bad word about anyone.

Mom and Dad spent many enjoyable winters in Kelowna and Victoria, BC. They also travelled to Europe and Hawaii. In 2008, Marie moved into Weneeda Park Lodge and Paul was in Pleasant View. She walked endless times across the street to care for her husband Paul and visited him every day. She loved to visit the sick and elderly and cheer them up. Her love was being a homemaker; we called her our Domestic Engineer, she had her honors degree! She was a very kind, Godly, caring, loving and helpful person who would always help and pray for everyone.

She was very loved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren… they were all so special to her! She will always be remembered for her fresh buns, Sunday dinners and her extraordinary juice concoctions… they were so good!

Marie leaves to mourn her precious family: son Bernie (Isabelle) and grandsons Mark and Ryan; daughter Ruth (Sam), grandson Scott (Betty), great granddaughter Tara (Kenny) and great great-grandchildren Awien, Marley and Brecken, great granddaughter Whitney (Scott) and great great-grandchildren Kobe and Penny, grandson Jason (Lydia) and great granddaughters Brooke, Rylee and Sydree; daughter Donna (Daryl), grandson Kent (Chelsea) and great granddaughters Elin and Maddie and great grandson Crosby; granddaughter Melanie (Matthew), great grandson Jack and great granddaughter Grace; sister Anna Prince, her children and their families; brother Pete Pawluk, his daughter Michelle and family; niece Julia (Ron) and family; dear, dedicated and loving friend Maxine and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents Wasyl and Annastatia, brothers George and Wasyl, nephew Tim Pawluk and sister-in-law Beatrice.

She is dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her family and loved ones. We can be rest assured knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and Paul. We love you Mom, Mumma, Baba, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great Great-Grandma… our dear Mother.

Thank you to all who visited her in Humboldt and Wadena, Dr. Moola and Dr. Sabre, all the nursing staff in Humboldt and Wadena, all the girls at Weneeda Park Lodge and a special thank you to Maxine.
