Mary Skolney was born in Wishart, SK on January 21, 1936 to Alexander and Jean Dakiniewich. She was the second oldest of 19 children. Mary married William Skolney November 7, 1954, they had 7 children. Mary passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022.
Mary was well known for her infectious laughter, she always had a smile for everyone she met. She loved to make perogies and cabbage rolls, and always had plenty in her freezer. Nobody left Baba’s house hungry, and if you did it was your own fault.
Mary, better known as Baba to everyone, had a way of making any person feel welcomed in her presence. She loved to talk to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her house was always open for company when they came to visit. Baba loved doing cross word puzzles and watching the game show channel. She also enjoyed Saturday evenings playing radio bingo and then finishing off the night with the Saturday night dance party.
Baba was a devout Catholic and always watched Sunday mass once she could no longer attend church. She lived out the last 2 years of her life in the care of her daughter Bernadette and son-in-law Brad.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Jean; husband William; and son Michael. She leaves to mourn Donnie (Amy), Gerry (Joanne), Eugene, Bernadette (Brad), Brenda, Dave (Karen). Baba had 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
