Mr. Robert Colby

August 15, 1925 — October 26, 2022

Robert “Bob” Colby was born on August 15, 1925, the youngest child of Joe and Rebecca Colby, and the last surviving one. He went to Roscommon School until about grade 8, and then had a stint at Alice Arm, B.C, in a silver mine and also worked for the department of highways before he started farming.

He married Lorraine Watterud of Kelvington, SK and they just celebrated 70 years of marriage.

He retired from grain farming when he was in his 60’s and stayed strictly with his first love, raising cattle. He first registered Herefords and then both red and black angus, finally settling on black angus. He was very proud of his cows, or “Bob’s damn cows” as mom called them.

Once when they got out, him and Joe Kocur went on a round up. Dad ended up in the University Hospital getting a stent put in, which has kept him going for a few years. Moral of the story is if the age of the cowboy’s total more than 160, there should be more than 2 people involved.

His niece, Rita Kocur and her husband Joe, were very good to mom and dad and allowed them to be able to stay out on the farm they loved, as long as the did and our family cannot thank them enough.

Dad also enjoyed golfing into his 90’s and was one of the group of people, instrumental in getting the golf course started.

Mom and dad moved into Kelvindell Lodge in Kelvington this last year and have enjoyed phenomenal care, thanks to all who was involved.

Bob is survived by his wife Lorraine; children Kim Paysen, Barry Colby, and Colleen Gwilliam; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by Brian Paysen and Byron Gwilliam.

Funeral Service to be held at a later date
