Robert Wayne Squire, of Invermay, SK, passed away on December 31, 2021 in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 67. Wayne was born on May 12, 1954, to Jack and Alice Squire in Invermay, SK.

Wayne was a farmer all his life. In Wayne’s own words, “I was a farmer, always had cattle, used to enjoy getting newborn calves and harvesting the crop in the fall, then in 2001 I had to give up the cattle due to health reasons. I rented the land in 1994 then I worked for my friend Jeff for many years and then for my friend Tom.”

Wayne was a member of the Invermay Kinsmen Club for many years, the Invermay Curling Club, and the Invermay Winter Festival Committee. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and working in and growing his garden in the summer. He enjoyed travelling to the Maritimes and Nashville, but his favorite trip was to Alaska in 2008. He enjoyed going to coffee row, pals and the warmup shack and going fishing up North with his friend Tom Fogg. He enjoyed watching all his nieces and nephews grow up and had a soft spot for all the new additions to the family.

Wayne is survived by his sisters Elaine Fidek of Invermay, SK, Marjorie (Alvin) Sandvold of Bethune, SK, Sharon (Larry) Wendz of Ituna, SK and Shona (Alvin) Lingelbach of Saskatoon, SK; his brother Gerald (Lois) Squire of Wainwright, AB as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Alice Squire, brother Jim Squire and brother-in-law Bill Fidek.

We hold onto our memories

The ones that are so dear

To try to keep you always close

Now you are not here.

You were called, it was your time,

But it is so true,

You have left a legacy

There was no one like you.

You were very special

And we want to say

We feel lost in many ways

You are not here today.

But we will never forget you

And we know we have been blessed

To have you for our brother

Because you were the best.
