Roger Salikin

January 5, 1961 — September 15, 2022

Roger Larry Salikin of Kuroki, SK passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022, with his wife Glenda by his side in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 61 years.

He was born on January 5, 1961 to Larry and June Salikin, in Wadena, SK. He attended school in Kuroki in his earlier years, and then at Wadena School later on.   Following school, Roger worked as a farm hand for several farmers.  He started out working for Bill Klewchuk, then Alex Bajbula, and Panasiuk Farms.

Roger decided to head out to Alberta and continue working in the agriculture field.  He started working as a custom harvester in Fahler, Alberta with Carey Hrycak.  It was here where he met his future wife.

One weekend, Glenda Hrycak, a local girl that he had known for any years from the Wadena area came out to Alberta to do some visiting.  The two hit it off and began a relationship.   On December 26, 2005, the two married in Wadena, SK.

When Roger moved back to Saskatchewan, he worked in construction in Fort Nelson, BC for a while, until he decided to work around home, for the Foam Lake R.M. Roger thought that he would like to try his hand at diamond drilling with Larry Wasyluk.  Following that, Roger worked as a grader operator for the R.M. of Sasman and he also cattle farmed for many years as well.   In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and quadding.

In 2019, Roger was hospitalized for multiple myeloma.  Following this diagnosis, his health continued to deteriorate.  He had various complications that kept popping up, landing him in and out of the hospital for the next three years.  Eventually, Roger could not fight any longer, and passed away in RUH at Saskatoon, SK.

Roger is survived by his mom June Klewchuk (Bill) of Wadena, SK; his wife of 17 years, Glenda Hrycak-Salikin of Kuroki, SK; stepdaughter Nicole Hyrcak of Allan, SK; his daughter Santana Cote and grand-daughter Bella of Kamsack, SK; sisters Rhonda (Paul) Perpeluk of Wadena, SK, and Faye Wingert of Barrier Lake, SK and her daughter Chyanne Wingert of Saskatoon, SK; brothers-in-law Carey Hrycak of Kuroki, SK, and Terry Danchuk of Wynyard, SK.   Also left to mourn him are numerous aunts, uncles and their families.

He is predeceased by his father Larry Salikin; sister Kathy Danchuk; brother-in-law Eddie Wingert; mother and father-in-law Elsie & Cyrus Hrycak; Aunt Phyllis Sowa; Uncle Dwayne Juve; Grandparents Elizabeth and Arvid Juve; and Cousin Lynn Juve.

Roger will always be remembered and will be dearly missed by many.
