It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Shirley Ann Arneson of Tuffnell, Saskatchewan. Shirley passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 on the family farm at the age of 76.  She was born on August 26, 1944, parents were Stefan and Julia Johnson.  Shirley met the love of her life, Lawrence and they were married on February 28, 1964.

Shirley attended Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon from 1960-1961.  After completing her training, she had hair salons in both Invermay and Sheho.  She loved to cook and did numerous jobs in the catering industry, including the Foam Lake Nursing Home as a food service worker/cook. In 1995, Shirley worked as a postmistress at the Tufnell Post Office until 2000 when she retired.

Shirley spent a lot of her time volunteering with the Tuffnell community group for many different functions that took place in the community.  She enjoyed curling, gardening, canning, fishing, camping, dancing, card games and horse back riding.  Shirley always wanted to make sure that she showed the greatest hospitality to her family and friends.  There was always an overabundance of food filling the table.  She ensured when her family came home to visit one of their favorite meals were prepared just as when they were children and came home to homemade bread and cookies.  Mom always found a way to use everything, nothing went to waste, and the deep freeze was always full.  Her laughter could easily light up a room and was highly contagious.  Her caring nature never let anyone feel less than at home and she always put concerns for others before herself.

Her love for music carried far beyond the radio with the main theme in the house being Elvis Presley. From listening to his music, collecting memorabilia and visiting Elvis’s mansion in Graceland.  She truly was his biggest fan.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her loving husband Lawrence Arneson, five sons – Ricky (Margo); Dwayne (Sheila); Gary (Wanda); Kevin (Sheila) and Stacy (Renata).  Grandchildren:  Ashley (Mike); Bailey (Bryce); Breanne; Karlee; Johnathan; Justin, Davin and Karsten.  Great-Grandchildren: Hailo and Steele; Rylee and Araylen.

Left to mourn are her siblings: Eylene (John); Gaylene (Ralph); Bev (Dan); Ernie (Liz); Stella; Hazel; Elsie; Herb (Anne); Ray (Jane); Glen (Bev) and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley is predeceased by her parents Stefan and Julia Johnson and Henry and Mary Arneson.  Sister and brother-in-laws: Esther (Steve); Luciel (Edward); Carl (Vicki); Matt; Raymond; Emerson and Grandson Taylor.
