Victor Kitzul

March 22, 1929 — March 3, 2023

Victor Kitzul was born in the farming community of Bankend, Sask, to parents Metro and Anastasia (Hunchak) Kitzul on March 22, 1929, into a family of four brothers and one sister, to be  later joined by two more sisters. Between attending school and helping out on the farm, Victor’s passion was hunting.  First, he hunted weasels and muskrats for their fur, as well as many gophers.  He then graduated to bigger game such as moose, elk, deer, and bear. Ducks and geese were taken for food and as well as for their feathers used by the women in the family for making pillows and comforters that are still enjoyed till this day.  In the summer it was time to go fishing. One of the most memorable hunts he undertook was up North in September of 1959, when Victor along with his dad, his brother John and a couple of family friends got a bull moose with an impressive rack that dressed out at 1000 lbs.  This moose was cut up by the local butcher and shared with everyone in the Bankend community.
Victor attended university for a couple of years in Saskatoon, Sask, and then taught school at Allenby, before deciding to take up farming and met his future wife, Verla Mary Patton, the daughter of George and Alice Patton.  They were married in May of 1950 in Saskatoon, Sask, and went on to have a family of four, Grant (Deborah), Glenda (Tom), Guy (Trudy), and Mark (Lisa).  Grandchildren Patrick , Michelle (Ryan), Brandie (Martin), Tammy (Sandy), Steven (Anita), and Liam (Shelby).  Great grandchildren, Kimberley (Brad), Samantha (Braeden), Amber (Rylan), Michael (Ashtyn), Madysin, Caitlin, Tanis (Eric), Zoe (Trey), Karsten, Karleigh, and Cy.  Great great grandchildren Issac, Jacob, Azlyn, Walter, Serena, Jaylynn, and Nova.
After years of farming, Victor travelled with his small ware firm VK Products, serving his many clients in Eastern Saskatchewan extending to the Manitoba border.  Time was spent with family enjoying a cottage at Fishing Lake and a hunting cabin up north, where he shared his hunting and fishing passion with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  These were happy years as well as some difficult ones when health issues would arise and had to be dealt with.
Victor was a honoured member of the Foam Lake Wildlife Federation, both Victor, Verla and family members enjoyed many get-togethers at many wildlife banquets with their friends in the hunting community.
Victor will be dearly missed and remembered always.  He leaves his wife Verla of 72 years, as well as all his children and their families, his sisters Victoria ( Arnie), Rosalind, and Patricia to mourn his passing, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.  Victor was predeceased by his parents, his brothers John (Helen), Taras / Terry (Francis) and Steve, as well as his sisters-in-law Helen and Francis and his brother-in-law Donald (Patricia).  He was also predeceased by his wife’s parents, his brother in law Garth / Pepper and his sister-in-law Arlene / Mag (Les).
